The article explores the results of a research whose main purpose was to recognize the meanings that parents of intersex children assume about this condition, from the perspective of symbolic interactionism. The analysis focused on the social interactions and the self interactions to understand the meanings that these parents give to the life trajectories of their children. To achieve this, during 2015 and 2018 semi-structured interviews were made to four mothers and three fathers from Bogota, Colombia. The main result of the research was that these parents identified the birth and the adolescence of their children as a "critical stages" in the intersex condition.
