Abstract

OLIVERO OLMOS, Joan Sebastian. Tourism in the Amazon: Knowing the Macedonian Reserve. Trab. soc. [online]. 2021, vol.23, n.2, pp.335-356.  Epub Apr 27, 2022. ISSN 2256-5493.  https://doi.org/10.15446/ts.v23n2.87662.

The objective of this article is to identify impacts of tourism in Macedonia. To do so, it was chosen the interview and participant observation as methodologies for collecting information. It was evidenced that tourism has generated transformations as the physical reconfiguration of the reservation and the extinction of some timber species around the settlement, as well as cultural transformations related to the forms of production and satisfaction of human needs. The conclusion is that the interviewed are aware of said impacts and make explicit the need for a community organization to benefit from tourism without transforming the ways of being in and inhabiting the territory.

Keywords : Amazonia; development; indigenous; market; tourism; reservation.
