MORENO-CORTES, Javier et al. Intersociety consensus for the diagnosis and treatment of people with arterial hypertension. Rev. Colomb. Cardiol. [online]. 2023, vol.30, n.3, pp.158-177. Epub July 03, 2023. ISSN 0120-5633. https://doi.org/10.24875/rccar.22000078.
Introduction:
Arterial hypertension is a global public health problem, exacerbated by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has generated important efforts at the global and national levels to strengthen prevention, early detection, and timely therapy to reduce its repercussions. multidimensional.
Objective:
Unify criteria and generate evidence-based clinical recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with arterial hypertension.
Method:
An intersocietal consensus was reached with the participation of several Colombian associations for the adaptation and/or adoption of evidence-informed clinical recommendations that guide the diagnosis and treatment of adult patients (greater than or equal to 18 years) with arterial hypertension.
Results:
Responses were obtained from 19 experts. The range of agreement for the recommendations included in the consensus ranged from 84.2 to 100%. Twenty-two clinical recommendations were generated for the dimensions of diagnosis (n = 6), non-pharmacological treatment (n = 6) and pharmacological treatment (n = 10).
Conclusions:
The clinical recommendations of this consensus guide interdisciplinary clinical decision-making regarding the diagnosis and treatment of people with arterial hypertension.
