Abstract
CADENA, Marleny; NARANJO, Alvaro and NUSTEZ, Carlos E. Evaluating the response of 60 Solanum phureja (Juz. et Buk.) genotypes to attacks by the Guatemalan moth (Tecia solanivora Povolny). Agron. colomb. [online]. 2005, vol.23, n.1, pp.112-116. ISSN 0120-9965.
The damage to tubers caused by the Guatemalan moth (Tecia solanivora P.) was evaluated in 60 genotypes from the Solanum phureja species in laboratory conditions at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. A completely random design was used; experiments were repeated five times. A tuber infected with 20 Tecia solanivora eggs was taken as being the experimental unit. The variables measured were percentage of hatching, percentage of pupation and level of tuber damage. The results led to 12 promising genotypes being selected regarding their tolerance to attack by T. solanivora; these will be studied in greater detail in future work
