Abstract

PEREZ LOPEZ, Susana. The Influence of Leadership on Learning: The Mediating Role of the Organizational Context. Innovar [online]. 2012, vol.22, n.45, pp.141-154. ISSN 0121-5051.

This work analyzes the relationship between leadership and organizational learning. Based on previous research, a model is proposed whose basic premise is that the relationship between both concepts is direct as well as indirect, to the extent that leadership influences the organizational context in which learning takes place. Our theoretical model has been empirically contrasted based on a sample of 162 Spanish companies, confirming the influence of leadership on organizational culture and the development of human resources policies, factors that in turn influence learning. However, a direct relationship between leadership and organizational learning was not confirmed. The implications of the study, limitations and future research lines are discussed in the work.

Keywords : Leadership; organizational learning; organizational culture; human resources practices.
