Abstract

BARNI, Gabriel de Andrade Conradi; MORO, Matheus Fernando; BORNIA, Antonio Cezar  and  TEZZA, Rafael. DATA VISIBILITY IN LATIN AMERICAN OPEN GOVERNMENT DATA PORTALS. Innovar [online]. 2022, vol.32, n.85, pp.187-203.  Epub July 28, 2022. ISSN 0121-5051.  https://doi.org/10.15446/innovar.v32n85.101127.

In open government data portals (OCDR) it is not enough just to gather a large amount of data to achieve transparency, engagement, innovation, and economic growth. It is also necessary to provide mechanisms so users can find and use the reported data, something known as "visibility." With the aim of evaluating the visibility of OCDP of Latin American countries, visibility was considered as a variable composed of 14 criteria, which were developed based on a literature review. The analysis identified that the studied portals mainly require to develop resources to be read in another language, provide an interactive search field, and relate different data to specific sets. According to our findings, the portals of the governments of Colombia and Paraguay showed the best performance, as they met 11 of the observed criteria.

Keywords : Latin America; open government data; visibility of open data portals.
