Abstract
GAMBOA, Jean and SALAZAR-E., César Augusto. Mantids (insecta: mantodea) deposited in Universidad de la Amazonia LEUA, Entomology Laboratory collection, Florencia, Caquetá. Bol. Cient. Mus. Hist. Nat. Univ. Caldas [online]. 2021, vol.25, n.2, pp.93-118. Epub Dec 02, 2021. ISSN 0123-3068. https://doi.org/10.17151/bccm.2021.25.2.7.
Objective:
A systematic list of the Mantodea deposited in Universidad de la Amazonia-LEUA Entomology Laboratory collection is presented.
Methodology:
Specific bibliographic sources were consulted and the material of the order Mantodea conserved in dry storage in the collection was reviewed with the help of a stereomicroscope.
Results:
A hundred specimens belonging to 20 genera and 31 species were found for which taxonomic keys for the identity of some relevant genera and an illustrated list of the species found are presented.
Scope:
Five new records for the Colombian fauna within the material are reported as follows: Thesprotiella peruana Beier, 1935; Acanthops erosula Stal, 1877; A. royi Lombardo & Ippolito, 2004, A. elegans Lombardo & Ippolito, 2004 and Oxyopsis festae Giglo-Tos, 1883. The range of distribution of Chaeteessa nigromarginata Salazar, 2004, previously known from the Magdalena Medio region is extended to the Amazon region.
Conclusion:
These new records allow concluding that the mantid fauna of the region is highly diversified, especially for the piedmont regions.
