Abstract

Objective:

In order to strengthen the knowledge and production of the granadilla de quijos Passiflora popenovii (Passifloraceae) as a promising species, the richness, abundance and composition of the insects were evaluated.

Scope:

Analysis of the diversity and trophic groups of the entomofauna, differentiating the possible insects considered plagues from the beneficial ones.

Methodology:

The samplings were carried out in three farms in the Santa María village, municipality of Timbío, department of Cauca, using Van Someren-Rydon type traps, the entomological network, and manual collection.

Main results:

A total of 180 morphospecies of insects of eight orders and 55 families were obtained. The Diptera order presented the highest abundance with 96.3% of the total orders, while Hymenoptera showed the highest richness. Six trophic groups were differentiated.

Conclusions:

56.53% of the collected families were phytophages considering that Lonchaeidae Diptera are potential pests of flower buds and are causing losses that without proper management could increase. Natural enemies were 33.92% (predators, parasites, parasitoids) and pollinating insects were 7.14%, being Centris sp., the main pollinator.
