Abstract

LICONA VALENCIA, Ernesto. A hybrid exchange system: the la purísima market/ tianguis, Tehuacán-Puebla, Mexico. Antipod. Rev. Antropol. Arqueol. [online]. 2014, n.18, pp.137-163. ISSN 1900-5407.

The article treats the market (or tianguis) as an economic institution in which several different forms of goods exchange intermingle, forming a hybrid system of predominantly monetary exchange. These transactions are described ethnographically to reveal that economic reality is mediated by the sociocultural features of subjects whose function is primarily economic.
