Objective:

To describe the process of implementation of the Peace Lecture in Higher Education Institutions in Colombia through a document review study.

Methodology:

The article is of a qualitative nature with an interpretive approach and corresponds to the fulfillment of a state of the art. The analysis is carried out to the categories of peace lecture, Higher Education, and non-violence.

Results:

The results show the recognition of contradictions in the documents addressed that have been carried out throughout the process of implementation of the Lecture. The contributions of reflection scenarios to think about society and bet on citizenship with country ideals through processes of inclusion, coexistence and culture of peace are highlighted.

Conclusions:

The need for the University to continue with the process of redefining its social function in order to assume a challenge such as educating for peace is evident.
