Globalization still is a key factor in business strategies design, in particular those that lead to increased participation in global markets, namely the internationalization of firms.Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and new global ventures -Born Globals, are able to face the threats and opportunities that arise from global trade with their business strategies design, managerial attitudes and involvement in support programs. This research examines the development of Bogota´s SMEs. First, a database of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá years 1972-2010, is used, with a simple cross-sectional analysis. Then, variables such as number of new ventures, local-oriented firms and internationally oriented firms are analyzed to draw conclusions on the entrepreneurial activity of new companies with an international vocation.
