Abstract
GARCIA RODRIGUEZ, Cristhian Camilo et al. Needs analysis and implementation of virtual reality technology for military training and education in Colombia. Rev. logos cienc. tecnol. [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.1, pp.8-18. Epub Dec 13, 2020. ISSN 2145-594X. https://doi.org/10.22335/rlct.v13i1.1271.
The article analyzes the training and military education needs of small unit commanders and proposes to solve them by implementing virtual reality technology. This paper applies a survey to explore the tools that are available for training small unit commanders. Likewise, it identifies institutions' needs for this type of training, focusing on exercises for irregular combat maneuvers. An analysis was carried out to identify the main actions that military personnel usually carry out in this type of training in order to find technological solutions to them. The integration and implementation of a simulation system is proposed, making use of virtual reality technology and omnidirectional platforms for motion capture, identifying relevant factors such as, for example, adaptation to this type of technology and security parameters regarding user acceptance. The proposed system is the fundamental unit in the design of a training center for irregular maneuvers that will allow interaction with groups and different specialties within the Armed Forces.
