Abstract
CARRILLO-MALDONADO, Paul; YASELGA ALVARADO, Emanuel Daniel and GARCIA MOSQUERA, María Isabel. A method for obtaining high-frequency data on the Ecuadorian labour market. Cuad. Econ. [online]. 2023, vol.42, n.89, pp.147-175. Epub Feb 23, 2024. ISSN 0121-4772. https://doi.org/10.15446/cuad.econ.v42n89.92989.
The objective of this paper is to propose an interpolation methodology to adjust aggregate data obtained from the Ecuadorian employment survey, without national representation. For this purpose, the use of econometric correction by detecting identified structural breaks is proposed. The results show that the data are adjusted to the aggregate dynamics of the labour market between 2007 and 2019, maintaining the official data and without the need to include auxiliary variables, such as other interpolation methodologies. These adjusted data are included in an econometric model of aggregate supply and demand to show results similar to the literature.
