INTRODUCTION.

Dissecting basilar artery aneurysms have an unpredictable course, eventually evolving to serious hemorrhagic or ischemic stroke; on the other hand, its therapeutic approach in controversial and there are no clear lines of treatment.

CASE REPORT.

We report a case of a 28-year-old female with brain stem infarction secondary to basilar dissecting aneurysm successfully treated by Flow-Redirection Endoluminal Device (FRED).

CONCLUSION.

Endovascular treatment of dissecting basilar artery aneurysms with FRED seems to offer advantages over traditional open surgical techniques and conventional stents in selected cases.
