Abstract

FERNANDEZ AGUEDA, Beatriz. Inscribing the traces of the industrial past into the future of the city: the regeneration of Île de Nantes. Apuntes [online]. 2013, vol.26, n.2, pp.38-51. ISSN 1657-9763.

In industrial areas the heritage issue takes on a peculiar significance since it is impossible to single out one element that must be preserved at the expense of others; by contrast, the multiple and heterogeneous components of the industrial city transformed by social and productive practices developed over time, relate inseparably forming a complex tissue. In this case, the analysis of the Ile de Nantes project demonstrates the importance of valuing these industrial fabrics and keeping the links between urban planning and preservation of industrial heritage.

Keywords : regeneración urbana; industrial heritage; industrial city; urban regeneration; urban regeneration; industrial memory.
