Abstract

MERCADO, Rafael Segundo. Ale'eya Conformation of All That Exists: The Law of Origin of the Wayuu Culture. Lit. teor. hist. crit. [online]. 2022, vol.24, n.2, pp.269-284.  Epub Aug 23, 2022. ISSN 0123-5931.  https://doi.org/10.15446/lthc.v24n2.102228.

This text is a reflection based on the interaction with the Wayuu elders. It narrates the edition of a posthumous work by Ramón Paz Ipuana and the foundation of a public library in Alta Guajira. It makes visible the weakening of the system of government of us, the Wayuu, and proposes that the Wayuu education should start from the sacred stories. Two graphs on the formative principles and the eirukuu wayuu are presented. It is concluded that the sciences that we study should serve for the internal strengthening of our processes so that writing is of great importance for our elders; for this, it is necessary to return to our law of origin called aleeya: conformation of what exists. All these activities mentioned were gestated from my training as a Wayuu and as a linguist at the National University of Colombia.

Keywords : Ale'eya: law of origin; education; e'iruku; writing; Wayuu marakucho.
