Abstract

Financing small and medium enterprises (SMEs), is a very relevant problem in Colombia . This paper addresses this problem and describes what has happened with the companies incubated in the Technology-Based Business Incubator of Antioquia (IEBTA), Colombia . First, the known forms of financing are described, also a study is made that groups the different companies in which the IEBTA has collaborated; then a survey and statistical analysis methodology is followed, focusing. in three basic points which are: financial instruments known by managers, financial instruments implemented in companies, and characteristics that the entrepreneurs consider important for a financing instrument; Then, a financing matrix for Colombian SMEs is proposed as a result of this research.
