The muds of the microfiltrate obtained as a by-product of the production of the Sesame oil are rich in D(+)-sesamin. 120 g of sesamin (34%) were obtained, following a specific procedure of isolation and purification by recristallization in boiling ethanol. Crystals were identified by means of physicochemical and spectroscopic techniques.
