Abstract
ARUNACHALAM, Viswanathan and RESTREPO, Ricardo. MODELAMIENTO ESTOCÁSTICO DE LA PÉRDIDA DE SECUENCIAS TELOMÉRICAS EN CÉLULAS CON VARIOS CROMOSOMAS. Rev.colomb.mat. [online]. 2005, vol.39, n.1, pp.1-11. ISSN 0034-7426.
Telomeres play an important role in organism aging. Due to the telomerasa absence, each time that the cell is divided, it lost telomeric sequences. Subsequently, the telomeric DNA is critically reduced and it directs the cell to stop its division, entering to a senescence state. This article presents a solution for the modeling in discrete time, of the evolution of a population that age due to telomeric reduction, where the cells have more than one chromosome, obtaining in particular the result that a population of multichromosomic cells tends to decline, without necessity of including other parameters of cellular death as waste or metilation.
