Abstract

NARVAEZ ROSERO, Héctor. Actualization in the evaluation and treatment of the male infertility. Rev Colomb Obstet Ginecol [online]. 2004, vol.55, n.1, pp.70-74. ISSN 0034-7434.

An abnormal male factor contributes to reproductive failure in approximately 50% of infertile couples. Different tools are available for the diagnostic of the male, including transrectal ultrasonography, when ejaculatory duct obstruction is suspected. A laparoscopic approach and percutaneous embolization have been added to traditional surgical approaches for repairing varicoceles. Advanced reproductive technologies, especially intracytoplasmic sperm injection, and current techniques to harvest sperm include microsurgical sperm aspiration from deferent ducts, epididymal and testicular sperm extraction. These techniques offer alternative good treatments for male infertility.

Keywords : male infertility.
