Abstract

ARISTIZABAL, Juan Felipe et al. Where should peripartum care take place?. Rev Colomb Obstet Ginecol [online]. 2005, vol.56, n.2, pp.166-175. ISSN 0034-7434.

This article outlines the patterns determining critically ill pregnant women’s admittance to an intensive care or high-dependency unit, the most frequently occurring causes of complications and death and the factors affecting perinatal prognosis. High-dependency units would then seem to have become necessary for treating critically ill pregnant women. Suitable training of the personnel involved in these patients’ obstetric care has also become a priority.

Keywords : intensive care unit; obstetric high-dependency unit; pregnancy.
