The objective of the following investigation was to evaluate the construct of conduct pattern type C. We analyzed its historical background, its relation to coping strategies, the initial stages of research in this field and its association with cancer. We also considered its five dimensions: emotional control, rationality, emotional repression, need of harmony and compensation, the hypothesis of its association with chronic diseases and the constructs of acceptance/ perceived benefits. We conclude this paper with a review of current developments and evolution of research in this field.
