Abstract

BARRETO-ROZO, Antonio. THE CONSTITUCIONAL PROJECT OF SEPARATION OF POWERS IN COLOMBIAN POLITICS: NOTES ON ITS DEVELOPMENT ALONG THE TWENTIETH CENTURY. Vniversitas [online]. 2011, n.122, pp.213-260. ISSN 0041-9060.

This article advances an account of certain itineraries experienced in the Colombian setting regarding the efforts in achieving the separation of public powers. Taking the element of check and balances as a point of reference, four institutional spheres are analized regarding the goal of having separate powers along the twentieth century, i.e. (i) the legislative branch (ii) the executive branch (iii) the judicial branch, and (iv) the supervising public entities.

Keywords : Separation of powers; check and balances; legislative branch; executive branch; judicial branch; supervising public entities; constitutional project.
