Abstract

PEREZ, Moira. Three approaches to pluralism for 21st century politics. Ideas y Valores [online]. 2017, vol.66, n.163, pp.177-202. ISSN 0120-0062.  https://doi.org/10.15446/ideasyvalores.v66n163.48358.

Different sectors have expressed the need to address the different notions of pluralism that characterize modern society, as well as their difficulties. The article provides a critical reading of three significantly different approaches to the issue: Chantal Mouffe's On the Political (2005), John Rawls' Political Liberalism (1996), and William E. Connolly's Pluralism (2005). It discusses their strengths and weaknesses, as well as the possibilities they provide to understand pluralism and take their theoretical contributions to the field of practice.

Keywords : C. Mouffe; J. Rawls; W. E. Connolly; pluralism; politics.
