This paper presents a survey about open access tools’ use by the Information and Communication Faculty professors of the Universidade Federal de Goiás, Goiânia, Brazil. The objectives were to identify the professors’ perceptions about the scientific production in the Institutional Repository and find out the open educational resources’ use trends. For data collection, survey questionnaires were used with professors. Main results indicated propensity to authorize scientific production deposit and also to adopt auto-deposit in the institutional repository. In relation to open educational resources, professors’ position was not consonant to the open access movement principles because most of them reported that are using proprietary softwares for the academic papers’ production and further stated that would not allow changes in open access productions. The conclusion is the awareness need of the importance about free digitalized materials’ production and freely supply at the Information and Communication Faculty.
