Abstract

VELANDIA CALDERON, Elsa Liliana. LOVE, AN AXIS IN THE NOVELS EN DICIEMBRE LLEGABAN LAS BRISAS AND LOS AMORES DE AFRODITA. Escritos - Fac. Filos. Let. Univ. Pontif. Bolivar. [online]. 2013, vol.21, n.47, pp.491-514. ISSN 0120-1263.

The paper explores, from the perspective of Comparative Literature, the concept of love as a problem axis in the novels En diciembre llegaban las brisas and Los amores de Afrodita. It proposes that the kind of love that connects both works is the concept of empty love that is taken from the typology created by the psychologist Robert Sternberg. Bearing this in mind, the conceptual framework is built upon the concepts exposed by Octavio Paz in his work La llama doble [The Double Flame] and some of the ideas developed by José Ortega y Gasset in his work Estudios sobre el amor [On Love: Aspects of a single Theme]. Those are the conceptual tools that have been used in order to compare the subject of love through the development of four characters, viz., Catalina Cazartoryzki, Divina Arriaga, Sándalo y Lisbeth.

Keywords : Love; Empty Love; Being; Freedom; Comparison.
