Abstract

PLATA, William Elvis. Friars and evangelization in the new kingdom of Granada (XVI). Vicissitudes of a troubled and not very successful process. Franciscanum [online]. 2016, vol.58, n.165, pp.263-302. ISSN 0120-1468.

This article contributes to the hypothesis that refers to the process of evangelization of the Indians in the New Granada as poor and unsuccessful. It is based especially -more not exclusively in the case of the Dominican Order. Explore the motivations that led to the arrival of missionaries to undertake this task, the institutions that supported the methodology, conflicts presented, and the results of this process between muiscas Indians living in the Cundi-boyacense highlands.

Keywords : Evangelization; muiscas indians; New Granada; religious orders; doctrines.
