Abstract

SOUZA, Ney de  and  DI FIORE, André Gustavo. Christ sleeps in the boat background? A theological reflection from Mc 4,35-41 on laical protagonism in thimes of pandemic Covid-19. Franciscanum [online]. 2022, vol.64, n.177, pp.5-5.  Epub Oct 06, 2022. ISSN 0120-1468.  https://doi.org/10.21500/01201468.5395.

The Covid-19 pandemic transformed realities and demanded social behaviors never experienced that, in the ecclesial dimension, have been revealing inadequate understandings and attitudes to the evangelical mystagogy, but which can also provoke ad extra missionary discipleship, in the concept of Church People of God. Therefore, this article aimed, based on a hermeneutics by Mc 4,35-41, to reflect on the lay protagonism in times of pandemic, its ecclesial self-understanding and its position in the face of the health crisis. To this end, it was structured in three points: it made an understanding of the Marcan pericope in the light of the pandemic; reflected on the position of the laity in the midst of the health crisis and, finally, wove clues for a missionary action consistent with discipleship, concluding that even in the midst of inadequate postures the laity is strongly called to ecclesial protagonism contributing to overcoming the health crisis caused by the new coronavirus.

Keywords : Pandemic; lay leadership; missionary discipleship; Covid-19; Church.
