This article is intended to focus the attention on one of the essential aspects of the competition law in Colombia, as it is the public enforcement of the law, in other words, the State power, delegated by means of law to the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce as the national authority on competition - this according to the provisions of article 6 of law 1340 of 2009-forward administrative investigations aimed to punish those people, natural or juridical, who violate provisions of the regulations on the matter, in order to safeguard rights such as free competition, efficiency in the markets, free enterprise, economic freedom and, ultimately, consumers protection.
