Abstract

BADINE EL YATTIOUI, Mohamed. The Western world and globalization: divorce or rebuilding?. Rev. Fac. Derecho Cienc. Polit. - Univ. Pontif. Bolivar. [online]. 2018, vol.48, n.128, pp.73-84. ISSN 0120-3886.  https://doi.org/10.18566/rfdcp.v48n128.a03.

The Western world, and mainly the United States, have been the promoters of the last phase of economic globalization. But in the face of the social consequences generated, we have recently witnessed an ideological movement referring to protectionism in the Anglo-Saxon world. The European Union, led by Germany, is taking a different direction in continuing to promote free trade. Do we have a geopolitical break in the western world?

Keywords : Geopolitics; globalization; free trade; protectionism; Western countries.
