Abstract

RAMIREZ-ACHOY, Jessica  and  (QDEP), Joan Pagès-Blanch. Teaching Practices in Initial Training for History Teaching. A Case Study in Costa Rica. Rev. colomb. educ. [online]. 2022, n.84, e204.  Epub Oct 26, 2022. ISSN 0120-3916.  https://doi.org/10.17227/rce.num84-11395.

In the article, we study the teaching practices in the history of a group of students in the Teaching of Social Studies and Civic Education Career of the Universidad Nacional, in Costa Rica and we relate them to their initial training. Methodologically we use qualitative analysis through the case study. Among the main results, we find that there are different teaching styles, but all have as a common denominator that history is presented as a finished and static product. . The interpretation and analysis of the past are ignored in classes directed by teachers in training. The contradictions between the discourse of the practitioners and what happens in the class give us indications about the curricular changes that are allowed to take shape in the teaching careers of Social Studies to train autonomous teachers with the ability to critically reflect on their practices.
