The illustrated non-fiction books advocating for co-education are part of the movement to make women visible in history and aim to give a voice to all those silenced by patriarchal thinking. Besides, there is an extensive repertoire of volumes striving for empowerment that achieves long-sought equality. These respond to one of the challenges of the knowledge society by promoting informational competence from the educational field and correcting one of the pending debts of contemporary society, which demands gender equality between men and women. This article proposes an analytical-bibliographical approach to these non-fiction illustrated books (n = 70) focused on Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women and Girls, is proposed, which shows how information is presented and hierarchized in this line of transmission of content and activation of ideas, through the graphic and visual use of the sign.
