Abstract

RUIZ FERNANDEZ, José. Wittgenstein and the concept of language. Some minor objections. Prax. filos. [online]. 2022, n.54, pp.51-70.  Epub Mar 09, 2022. ISSN 0120-4688.  https://doi.org/10.25100/pfilosofica.v0i54.11938.

The article expounds and critically considers Wittgenstein’s thought, expressed in the Philosophical Investigations, that, the same way that there is not a common feature in virtue of which we say that an activity is a game, there is not a characteristic feature of language or linguistic behaviour. The dangers of this analogy, pointed already by Rush Rhees, are here shown in a different light, by making some considerations on what is idiosyncratic to certain psychological concepts.

Keywords : Wittgenstein; Rush Rhees; Games; Rules; Language.
