Abstract

SOLORZANO, Augusto. Lessons from the creativity workshops of Antonio Caro. Prax. filos. [online]. 2022, n.54, pp.111-130.  Epub Mar 09, 2022. ISSN 0120-4688.  https://doi.org/10.25100/pfilosofica.v0i54.11936.

This article explores the educational contribution of the Visual Creativity Workshops that Antonio Caro (1950-2021) taught in the country and abroad for more than thirty years. Through a new pedagogical program that reflects John Dewey's ideal of integrating art and life in a natural way, the artist manages to democratize art and enhance creative capacities, consolidating new possibilities for the aesthetic-educational experience, inclusion and development, social skills through dialogue and active participation. The objective is to show that this contemporary artistic practice incorporates ethical and aesthetic issues that allow educational theory to be brought closer to the experience of art based on its effects and pragmatic potential. The methodology was qualitative and is limited to an exploratory documentary review of printed, electronic and audiovisual sources. The results allow us to conclude that the pedagogical content of the workshops, by being permanently remade and revised, builds its own research method, opens alternative routes to the educational models of institutional art, enhances communicability and deploys tactics that give meaning and direction to life. allow art and education to rehabilitate the dimension of experience that modern reason could not encompass
