Abstract

WEILER, Vera. Courtiers' manners through their own effective experiences. univ.humanist. [online]. 2011, n.71, pp.13-26. ISSN 0120-4807.

The path followed by Norbert Elias to help understand how historical others, as French courtiers, behaved and showed themselves at the times of absolute monarchy is shown here. The strategy developed by Elias appears to be close to the efforts by contemporary European (continental) psychology to identify effective experiences and its corresponding conditions. As a result, courtiers' apparent blindness face to the changes broad society was undergoing in terms of the process of building their sense of identity is understood.

Keywords : effective experiences; courtiers; sense of identity.
