Abstract

BARCELO MARTINEZ, Rodrigo. Displacement, health and poverty: Obstacles in the development of vulnerable adolescents in marginal settlements of Barranquilla (Colombia). Salud, Barranquilla [online]. 2007, vol.23, n.2, pp.302-316. ISSN 0120-5552.

Based on the framework of the Barranquilla UNI Project and one of its products, the Comprehensive Care Program for Displaced Adolescent into Barranquilla, the people displacement phenomenon is reviewed both on an in-town and countrywide basis. Its consequences are also analyzed as impact on the health and on a poverty status of the displaced adolescents. Causes, features, State responsiveness, and phenomenon outlook are highlighted- In regard to the latter aspect, we showcase some courses of action worked up by the Comprehensive Care Program for Displaced Adolescent in the settlements of Loma Roja, Pinar del Río, and La Paz.
