This article studies one of the most important short stories of Pablo Palacio: «El antropófago». According to the research hypothesis, Palacio’s short story shows how human beings are subject to certain unconscious desires that are not socially accepted. These desires are suppressed for some time, but can return in an unexpected and violent way. Therefore, the aim is to analyze «El antropófago», by using categories such as anthropophagy, abjection, and perversion.
Keywords : Pablo Palacio; Latin American literature; anthropophagy; abjection; perversion.
