Abstract

MARTINEZ ALPIZAR, Diana. Posthuman Subjectivities in La noche en la zona M by Alberto Chimal. Linguist.lit. [online]. 2023, n.83, pp.331-343.  Epub June 20, 2023. ISSN 0120-5587.  https://doi.org/10.17533/udea.lyl.n83a15.

this paper is interested in the posthuman subjectivities from the novel La noche en la zona M by Mexican writer Alberto Chimal. First, the analysis focuses on the constitution of the dystopic world and its relation with the posthuman. Subsequently, the paper analyses two characters: Celeste, a human mind living in digital space, and «los troceados», machines that need human flesh to repair themselves. Through them, the novel not only challenges the division between human and technology, but also it articulates the hopes, contradictions and dangers linked to the posthuman.

Keywords : Alberto Chimal; posthumanism; dystopia; digital selves; Mexican literature.
