Abstract

BARAJAS-DIAZ, Carolina; PEREZ-DE LASOTA, Enrique; CENTENO-RODRIGUEZ, Jorge  and  CORTINA-ROMERO, José María. Right atrial mass: The importance of cardiac ultrasound at the time of diagnosis of atrial fibrillation in the therapeutic approach. Rev. Colomb. Cardiol. [online]. 2020, vol.27, n.6, pp.607-610.  Epub Aug 04, 2021. ISSN 0120-5633.  https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rccar.2019.10.002.

The case is presented on a 70 year-old male who debuted with non-valvular atrial fibrillation. Two months later, and using cardiac ultrasound, two contiguous masses were observed in the right atrium. The masses were hanging from the Eustachian (inferior vena cave) valve, reached the interatrial septum and resembled a myxoma. Both were surgically resected, with no intra- or post-operative complications. The patient remained asymptomatic and in atrial fibrillation rhythm during follow-up.

Keywords : Clot; Myxoma; Cardiac ultrasound; Right atrium; Atrial fibrillation.
