Abstract

GUTIERREZ, Héctor; BARBA, Luz  and  MATERON, Hernán. Mobility of pesticides carbofurane and imidacloprid in Typic Humitropept soil. Agron. colomb. [online]. 2007, vol.25, n.1, pp.160-167. ISSN 0120-9965.

Laboratory studies were conducted in order to determine mobility of the pesticides carbofuran and imidacloprid in a soil type Typical Humitropept of Melendez, Cali, Valle del Cauca series. The packed columns with 5.4 cm internal diameter and 30 cm of height, soil water contents of field capacity, and feigned precipitation 300 mm in a period of 48 hours were used in order to obtain a Factor of Retard 4.29 for imidacloprid and 6.05 for carbofuran. The results of the previous assays were compared with the results of pesticide mobility in field lysimeters that were operated under a simulation of rain 300 mm/month. It was found that the most of imidacloprid was leached during the days 36.5 and 43.5, with a percentage of recovery 39.75%, whereas carbofuran was leached during the days 30- 36.5 with an average percentage of recovery 46.4%. These results were obtained in systems that included the effects of advection, dispersion, and adsorption. Therefore, they allow concluding that imidacloprid was the less mobile pesticide than carbofuran in the evaluated soil.
