The objective of the present study is to analyze the international protection of human rights and the role of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in the promotion and realization of decent work. In this context, it investigates: what are the limits and what is the possibility of the ILO to be counselor of public policies for the promotion of decent work in the member States? In this way, they are initially designated and discussed the main issues surrounding the international protection of human rights at work in a scenario marked by the process of globalization. Verified those aspects, it is presented the ILO's role in the consolidation of the human rights of decent work, and based on this, the possibility of the development of decent work as freedom is analyzed through the conception of Amartya Sen. For such work, it is used the hypothetical-deductive method, through bibliographic survey.
