EUZEBIO, Emerson Flávio. Territorial Porosity on the Amazonian Border: The Twin Cities of Tabatinga (Brazil) and Leticia (Colombia). Cuad. Geogr. Rev. Colomb. Geogr. [online]. 2014, vol.23, n.1, pp.109-124. ISSN 0121-215X.  https://doi.org/10.15446/rcdg.v23n1.34851.

Abstract Different approaches have been used to study border relations. Among them, the recent analysis based on territorial porosity suggests that border flows are the result of the current globalizing trend. The objective of this study was to understand the territorial dynamics of the subspace of the twin cities of Tabatinga (Brazil) and Leticia (Colombia), on the basis of an analysis of the norms and laws regulating the border flows and its impact on the economic and social development of the region. The study of the legal framework governing border flows made it possible to analyze the evolution of territorial porosity, its contribuition to regional development, and the increased closeness between neighboring societies.

Keywords : Amazon region; twin cities; borders; territorial porosity; Tabatinga and Leticia.
