Abstract

SUZUKI, Júlio César; CERQUEIRA DE ARAUJO, Gilvan Charles  and  MARQUES, Karina. Searching for the Backwoods: The Border Movement Inner Brazilians' Territory. Cuad. Geogr. Rev. Colomb. Geogr. [online]. 2022, vol.31, n.1, pp.53-64.  Epub Sep 01, 2022. ISSN 0121-215X.  https://doi.org/10.15446/rcdg.v31n1.89690.

The Brazilian's backwoods are present in the history of the country's territorial formation. The inner borders have uncounted landscapes, different regionalizations, lifeways, and unique traditions. Through the paths of the backwoods we found the Brazilian identity in its essential diversity, source of fascination and exploration by authors and geopoetic and geoliterature expressions. This paper proposes to reflect this dual role of the brazilian's backwoods, historically and geographically, together with their geopoetic and geoliterary power and wealth. A bibliographic review of the geographical precepts and elements of the Brazilian territory is established for this work, as well as the presentation of geopetics and geoliteraries expressions from the backwoods based on their essential geographical feature, diversifying it into multiple sociocultural and natural singularities. Therefore, it is possible to take the backwoods as a beginning and final point for the discussion about the formation of the identities and inner borders from the Brazilian national state.
