Abstract
VARGAS, Marlyn Vanessa and CASTILLO, Rubén. Occupational segregation by gender and employment in micro-enterprises in Colombia. Cuad. Econ. [online]. 2022, vol.41, n.87, pp.651-676. Epub Jan 24, 2023. ISSN 0121-4772. https://doi.org/10.15446/cuad.econ.v41n87.89151.
This paper examines the association between occupational gender segregation and employment patterns, in Colombian micro-enterprises, as a contribution to the study of inequality in the labour market between men and women, generally evaluated from the wage gap. Using data estimates from the 2012-2016 Colombia Microestablishment Survey, the findings suggest that, unlike the male population, women are less employed in both industrial and commercial trades, in comparison with services; as in paid work, compared with unpaid work. Such differential treatment is higher in the industrial sector and in permanent or long-term recruitment.
