Abstract

RUEDA ARIZA, Juan Camilo; MARTINEZ, Aida Juliana  and  CALVO, Diana Carolina. Impact of Drinking Water Biofilms Detachment in Water Quality. rev.ing. [online]. 2013, n.39, pp.6-11. ISSN 0121-4993.

The aim of this research was to determine the effect of biofilm detachment, formed in a water distribution network, on the quality of water delivered to households, given that this may affect people's health and quality of life. Analyses of pH, turbidity, concentration of metals and microbiologi-cal in the water supply network were undertaken to find the effect of biofilms on water quality. We found high levels of aluminum and microorganisms with highly resistance spore structures that are difficult to control and represents a potentially health problem for the population

Keywords : Biofilm; clorination; detachment, disinfection; pathogenic microorganisms; water quality.
