Abstract

CASTANO DUQUE, Germán Albeiro; CALDERON HERNANDEZ, Gregorio  and  POSADA BERNAL, Rodrigo. Profiles and typologies of business studies researchers in colombia and their scientific production. Innovar [online]. 2014, vol.24, n.52, pp.45-58. ISSN 0121-5051.  https://doi.org/10.15446/innovar.v24n52.42505.

Abstract: This article surveys the profiles of Colombia-based researchers in the business studies field, analyzing general characteristics such as educational levels, postgraduate training, age and geographical location, researcher perceptions of the visibility and impact of their results, the role of the researchers and the nature of their academic production. Two kinds of profile are identified: the first group characterized by higher levels of education and the second, whose activities are rooted in the individual identities of researchers with less educational experience. Subsequently, a typology of the productivity of researchers into business studies in Colombia was established. The empirical research for the study involved applying 194 questionnaires to researchers in the country and the development of a bibliometric study of 635 resumes of business researchers, using Cv-lac software (Currículum Vitae Latinoamericano y del Caribe - Latin American and Caribbean Curriculums vitae). The research identified, first, the two kinds of researcher and, second, the concentration of productivity among a small number of individuals. Further education and research institutions should focus on both of these variables in order to improve processes of generational renewal and to encourage current educators to engage in research.
