In order to verify behavior differences linked to the region of origin, this paper analyses the commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Europe. Commitment to CSR was analyzed according to the degree of non-compliance with the requirement of disclosure the document called Communication on Progress by the UN Global Compact (UN-GC) and the percentage of pioneer companies in adherence. A sample of European countries with companies subscribed to this initiative was used to develop the study. Results suggest that companies located in Western Europe show much greater commitment to CSR when compared to the countries of the former Eastern Bloc, and that commitment is bigger in countries in Western Europe where coordinated economy is stronger (Nordic countries).
