This work is part of some studies on innovation carried out in Cuba. Its intention is to introduce the performance of a set of factors that influence or determine innovation and innovation-based economic achievements. Global Innovation Index methodology is used for this purpose, with some limitations for the Cuban case. The goal of this research is to show that institutional aspects become an obstacle to business innovation in Cuba.
