The goal of this article is to explain some of the defense mechanisms used through the role played by the City Council and the Quartermasters during the 1810 Independence War in one of the most important cities of the New Spain, which was known for its mineral production. From 1808 and given the context of an accelerated political crisis, a change in defense practices by various social corporations was observed.
