This research article aims to address conceptual elements of sustainable development and its relationship with environmental justice, understanding the latter from its community essence, and exposing its axiological content and importance in international and national legal systems. Likewise, the article seeks to highlight some sustainable development alternatives implemented both by territorial entities and by communities and citizens of the Southwest of Colombia, which have represented and consolidated environmental conservation projects in the territories. This research has a qualitative and descriptive approach since, based on the review of documentary and bibliographic sources, it has been possible to make critical contributions that seek to generate questions regarding the vision of sustainable development intrinsic in some economic models
